XAPK Installer for Android
XAPK files bundle the APK installer with large OBB data files into a single download. Learn how to install XAPK files on any Android device, and download our recommended XAPK installer app for seamless one-tap installation.
The XAPK format was developed to solve a practical problem: apps and games with large asset files (textures, audio, maps) often exceed 100 MB or even several gigabytes. Google Play handles this through APK Expansion Files (OBB), but when sideloading, the standard Android package installer can't process these bundles. That's where XAPK comes in.
What is an XAPK File?
An XAPK file is essentially a ZIP archive renamed with the .xapk extension. Inside, it contains the core APK installer file plus one or more OBB data files. An XAPK-compatible installer extracts these components, places the OBB files in the correct Android/obb/ directory on your device, and then installs the APK — all automatically.
How to Install XAPK Files
Method 1 — XAPK Installer App: Download a dedicated XAPK installer application (such as APKPure's native app or standalone XAPK installer tools). Open the XAPK file with this app, grant required permissions, and the installer handles everything automatically. This is the easiest method.
Method 2 — Manual Installation: Rename the .xapk file to .zip, extract it, install the APK manually, then copy the OBB folder to Android/obb/[package.name]/ on your device's storage. This method requires no additional apps but is more involved.
